Trade Tokens allow you to trade cards with other players in Pokémon TCG Pocket. Introducing on the eve of the Space-Time Smackdown expansion, Trade Tokens allow you to trade cards rated as three-diamond, four-diamond, or one-star rarity, though both you and the person you trade with will need to spend these tokens.
This guide will go over how to get Trade Tokens in Pokémon TCG Pocket, and also explain how to recover your Trade Stamina.
How to get Trade Tokens in Pokémon TCG Pocket
You earn Trade Tokens by converting them for duplicates of rare cards. Once you exchange a card for Trade Tokens, you will no longer have that card. That card will be removed from your collection forever, just like with Flair.
To convert a card into Trade Tokens, you need three or more copies of the same card. The game will not allow you to exchange a card that you have two or fewer copies of into Trade Tokens. Here are the steps on how to get Trade Tokens:
- Go to the “My Cards” section of the app.
- Find a card that is a three-diamond rarity or higher. Make sure you have three or more copies of the card.
- Tap the card in your collection.
- Touch the “Obtain Items” button.
- Tap the icon that looks like a green card with two arrows circling it.
- Click “Exchange” and then “OK.”
- A short animation will play and the game will award you with your new Trade Tokens.
The amount of Trade Tokens you get for a card depends on the rarity of the card you convert. Here is the exchange value for each rarity of card:
- Three-diamond rarity gives you 25 Trade Tokens
- Four-diamond rarity gives you 125 Trade Tokens
- One-star rarity gives you 100 Trade Tokens
- Two-star rarity gives you 300 Trade Tokens
- Three-star rarity gives you 300 Trade Tokens
- One-crown rarity gives you 1,500 Trade Tokens
How to recover Trade Stamina in Pokémon TCG Pocket
Trade Stamina is a type of resource in Pokémon TCG Pocket that you need to exchange cards with other players. For reference, Polygon did a trade where we exchanged two three-diamond rarity Pokémon cards and it required one unit of Trade Stamina. There are two ways you can recover this stamina.
The first way to recover Trade Stamina is simply to wait. It takes 24 hours for one unit of Trade Stamina to recover.
The second way is to recover Trade Stamina using Trade Hourglasses. The information page for the currency in the game said Trade Hourglass are “obtainable as missions rewards and so forth.” As of this writing, the game’s shop did not have any way to purchase or exchange other currency for Trade Hourglasses. We also couldn’t find any quests where it was a reward. However, its description suggests it will eventually become a reward you can get for free doing other quests, just like other Hourglasses.
You can always buy Trade Hourglasses using the purchasable in-game Poké Gold currency. (One Poké gold shortens the time you need to wait for the Trade Stamina by four hours.) That said, we don’t recommend this since it looks like it’s likely you will be able to earn it for free eventually.
