Jye Symes, 37, sentenced to three years’ imprisonment after doctoring documents to implicate woman

A former detective has been jailed after he falsified evidence in a drug-trafficking investigation that almost led to a woman being put behind bars for crimes she did not commit.

Jye Symes, 37, was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment in Melbourne’s county court on Tuesday, after he pleaded guilty to one charge of engaging in misconduct in public office.
