Honkai: Star Rail’s version 3.0 is here, and while the patch brings the usual new stuff — like new characters, light cones, and events — there are a bunch of quality-of-life features coming with the patch that can be easy to miss.
Notable new features include the addition of the path of Remembrance, special tools to help you build and beef up your characters, and new items that let you specify some of the gains on your relics.
Below, we list out all the biggest new features and changes that are part of Honkai: Star Rail’s 3.0 update.
Yes, a whole new area to explore: Amphoreus
The biggest chunk of this patch is the addition of an entire new area to explore, with a hefty story alongside it. Amphoreus is the next stop on the Astral Express’ path, and with it comes new maps, new characters, and new puzzles to complete. There’s a plethora of the usual content that comes with a new area, including new treasure chests, new side quests, and new collectables called nymphs to find.
The path of Remembrance is real
Yep, Remembrance is no longer just a path in Simulated Universe, but there are now Remembrance characters in the game. The Trailblazer will get a Remembrance form as you complete the story, and Aglaea will make her debut as a Lightning Remembrance character available through the gacha (with more characters to come later).
All of that said, there are new light cones for Remembrance characters, as well as new Calyxes to hand out Remembrance materials.
The Trailblaze Power cap has increased to 300
Now you can slack just a little bit more when it comes to spending your Trailblaze Power before it overcaps. Those looking to be the most efficient when it comes to using their stamina will be happy to know that it now takes a full 30 hours to hit your Trailblaze Power cap from zero.
You can now customize relics with Wishful Resin
A new form of resin has joined the fray. Wishful Resin allows you to specify what substats you want on your relics, so you can customize them further without having to pray to the RNG gods. You can customize up to two stat lines, though you can only customize relics that you can use Self-Modeling Resin on.
You can get Wishful Resin via the synthesizer, exchanging one Self-Modeling Resin or 800 Relic Remains for one. Wishful Resin is also included as a reward from the Nameless Honor battle pass and an option in some paid bundles in the shop.
You can also reroll your relics using Variable Dice
If you’re like me, you have rolled hundreds of relics, looking for those break effect or crit rate/damage lines, but all the points go into HP or defence. If you still have those relics, you can now use the Variable Dice item to reroll those relics. Of course, there’s a chance that it’ll go back into HP and defense again, but hey, a free retry is a free retry.
You can make Variable Dice by sacrificing three Self-Modeling Resin and earn one via the paid track of the Nameless Honor battle pass.
There’s now a treasure gadget to help you seek out pesky chests
If you’re missing treasure chests from maps and you don’t want to figure out which one you’re missing, you can now use a gadget to point out which chests you still need to find. There is a catch, as you’ll need to unlock each area’s respective gadget by earning the on-planet currency (Clock Credits, Strale, etc), so it’s not like you’ll be able to buy and use it right away.
Get help building your characters by letting the game do it for you
If you’ve collected tons of relics and get lost in the sauce when it comes to equipping them, you can use the “smart equip” feature to set the best relics for your character for you. You’ll be able to base the chosen relics off of what the game devs pick or what players are running. You can also specifically set which relic sets you want to equip to the character of choice, too.
There are some things to keep in mind, though. If you’re into specific speed tuning or other specified stat building, you’ll need to keep your eye on these stats yourself.
Track your character growth using an in-game scaling feature
On your character screen, there’s a new button in the top right that says “leveling guide.” This works just like Genshin Impact’s leveling guide as it’ll point out parts of your characters that might need more materials. The system isn’t perfect, but it should help you keep tabs on what you should be spending your Trailblaze Power on.
Farming stages will always be available
Before, new players wouldn’t be able to farm materials from areas in the game that they may not have access to yet, due to story progression. However, after this update, you can now farm the stages from any area, even if you haven’t gotten that far yet.
