Before Geralt returns to Netflix with a fresh face or wanders into a new digital adventure with Ciri in the lead, he’s coming back for an animated movie: The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep. Netflix revealed a trailer for the upcoming film on Tuesday, ahead of its Feb. 11 release date.
Sirens of the Deep adapts one of the Witcher’s best short stories, “A Little Sacrifice,” which puts Geralt in an awkward position” in the middle of a conflict between humans and a kingdom of underwater Merpeople, thanks to a complicated marriage proposal. Of course, this being a Witcher story, things are a little more complicated, and it seems that some mysterious force is pushing the two sides to war, with only Geralt, Jaskier, and their friend Essi there to stop it.
Just like the previous Witcher film, Nightmare of the Wolf, this one is animated by Studio Mir, with gorgeous looking action and sleek character design that manages to find a happy medium between the looks of the Netflix show and the CD Projekt RED games. Netflix took the same approach with the movie’s cast as well, bringing in beloved voice actor Doug Cockle for Geralt, who also voices him in the games, while Jaskier and Yennefer are both voice by their actors from the live-action series — Joey Batey and Anya Chalotra.
